Update: Binkie Intervention

(Day 2 of NaBloPoMo)

Well, it has been ONE WEEK since The Binkie Intervention.

The day we began I gathered ALL of The Princess' binkies and took them to the trash, outside! I explained to her that she was a big girl now and it was time to say "bye bye" to her binkies.

She stood staring at me out the window FLIPPING OUT, but waving "bye bye" at the same time. It was one of the saddest things I have ever seen. I could hear her SCREAMING from out in the parking lot.

After a few minutes the crying stopped. She mentioned her "bee-bee" a few times before bed time. Then it was time for the real test.

BED TIME.

She did FLIP out again for a few minutes asking for her "Beeeeee-Beeeeeeeeee". It was pathetic and so sad. She gave up and crashed on me on the couch. She is still not sleeping great, but that probably has more to do with her having strep throat than her not having her binkie.

I have to say, I prepared for the worst and have been pleasantly surprised!

And, she has the prettiest little mouth. I have not ever really looked at it when she is sleeping because she ALWAYS had that darn thing in her mouth. But, now that I have, I LOVE her little mouth...

(and if you look close at her left arm, you can see her bit mark from daycare)

AWESOME JOB. That has to be a relief to have that taken care of. I hope princess feels better from the Strep soon.

When it was time for Connie to give up her binkie, I told her that if SHE put her binkies in the big trash outside, I would get her a 'prize'. It worked and all she wanted was 'Weebles'. I think it was harder on me to go thru this than it was for Connie.
Sorry about the strep throat ... maybe a sugarfree lollipop would help ... and one for the Super Hero too! <3

I remember when I had to take Sugar Boy's Binkie from him. It broke my heart. Sweet Girl was easy - she never really cared about hers all that much, but Sugar Boy had a true love affair going with his. I know your angst, momma - and I would say you handled it like a pro! =)
And yes - Your little Princess has a VERY pretty mouth! I love looking at their faces when they are relaxed in sleep. It is truly something special to behold! =)
