(Day 6 of NaBloPoMo)
First I want to say that I LOVE my job. BUT just because I work from home does NOT mean I am not BUSY.
I started the job when The Superhero was only 3 months old. It was MUCH easier then. I only had 1 kid to entertain while working. I worked a lot while he napped.
Then, The Princess was born. It was still easy for a while. Then she got older and needed my time too. I have manged to make it work with both kids at home for almost 2 years now.
We had some big changes in the structure of our school this year and I am required to have "quiet" in my house at certain times while I teach math lessons online to 5th grade students. And while I *could* manage with The Princess home, I decided it would be SO much EASIER to find a daycare for her part time.
Since The Superhero goes to pre-school 4 mornings per week, this means I could actually have some REALLY quiet time to get my work done.
I had originally found a Parent's Day Out program at one of the larger churches in town. You could take the kids on Tues, Wed, and Thurs from 9am-1pm for only $20 per day. I loved this idea because that was just enough time for me to get my work done and seemed affordable. Then the next thing I know, another co-worker tells me they are not going to be doing this program any longer.
I knew I had to look around and see what else I could find. I remembered another church daycare near my parents house, on the way to The Superhero's school and tried googling to find their website.
When I searched, I did not find the daycare I originally was searching for BUT I found another local church that has a daycare run there during the week. I called right away and talked to the director. She and I discussed days, times, and prices. I was able to negotiate a part time rate since I only wanted her there from 9-1 roughly.
I am a true believer that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. Finding this daycare was definitely something God had a hand in.
They only had ONE part time spot open in the 1 year old room.
It just happened to be on the I WANTED for The Princess.
The director worked with me to get a part time rate, which was affordable.
I had originally called on a Friday and just had this nagging gut feeling ALL weekend until I went to see the place on Monday morning. I somehow just KNEW it was the right place for us.
And I am SO happy with our decision to put The Princess there. She loves it. She plays well with the other kids and the staff just loves her.
And two more reasons they are awesome there...
1) We missed taking her last Monday due to her strep throat/doctor appt. and they let me make up the day later in the week. (most places would not do that)
2) They are SO welcoming. They gave The Princess this book and had the following inscription typed inside the front cover.
And the inscription reads...
Welcome to _____Christian Preschool!
Presented to: The Princess (with her real name, of course)
As you read this book we hope it reminds you of how much you are loved by those around you and more importantly by God.
"What is love? It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and send his Son to give his life to pay for our sins." 1 John 4:10
AMAZING! I love the feeling that she is so LOVED by others when she is not with me.
I feel SO BLESSED to have found such a GREAT place for her to grow up, part-time.
