Happy 4th of July!

As I was sitting looking at the pictures for this year of the kids all dressed in their red, white, and blue, I started thinking about the past several years.

The 4th of July that first came to mind was 2008. This was the holiday 6 days prior to The Superhero being dx with T1 Diabetes. Looking back at THAT picture and seeing how skinny my 18 month old was is breathtaking and scary.

I am SO thankful he is still here, alive and well with us to celebrate another year living with Diabetes. His Diaversary is next weekend and we will definitely be celebrating!

And instead of just sharing that ONE year with you, I pulled pictures of all of our 4th of July celebrations since Rod and I had the kids. Enjoy...

From our house to yours, Happy 4th of July!

2010 in Picture Review and some goals for 2011

I am finally working on my 2011 calendar.

Each year since The Superhero was born I have created a calendar of pictures using pictures for each month from that same month the year before. I am a little behind this year since I normally use this as our Christmas gifts for family. Since we were sick most of December I did not get any good December pictures until the very end of the month.

Here is a review of what I have for 2010...Enjoy!

January 2010

February 2010

March 2010

April 2010

May 2010

June 2010

July 2010

August 2010

September 2010

October 2010

November 2010

December 2010

And WOW these kids grew up this year! Can I get them to STOP and just stay little a while longer?

And, my goals for 2011 are more than just resolutions. They are things I just need to work on in general.
1) I want to have more patience with the kids. I don't want them to remember me for being a mean mommy who yells too much at them. I know they love me and I know they know I love them, but I feel like I yell too much.

2) I want to train my kids to go to bed on their own without a parent sitting in their rooms. No screaming and yelling from anyone.

3) I want to work on having some "ME" time every now and then and not ALWAYS putting everyone else's needs first. My needs are important too and I need to take care of myself or I am no good to anyone else.

4) I want to not work ALL the TIME. I need to set boundaries. Just because I work from home does NOT mean I need  to work constantly. I need to set aside my work to spend time with my family and to have my ME time and to keep up on the house work, etc.

5) I want to become more financially conscious and to really start thinking about where our money is going so we can become a little more stable. Our goal is to move out of this apartment before the end of 2011 and back into a house. I will be shopping LESS this year. This will be tough for me. LOL.

Those are the main things I can think of right now. What are you hoping to work on or change this year?

1000 Pictures?

A friend of mine posted on FB today that she had taken over 1000 pictures of her daughter since her 1st birthday just 2 months ago!

I am feeling like such a slacker! When The Superhero was born I took pictures ALL THE TIME. This continued for a while after The Princess was born.

Now that they are both a little older, I seem to only take pictures when we are at special events. I am not sure if it is Diabetes, the second child craziness, working full time, etc. that is causing my lack of pictures.

All I know is, I am SLACKING.

So, from today forward, I would like to take at least a couple pictures of the kids every day. I know I will want those moments captured in time to remember, even if it is just messy hair, jammie, jelly faced, kind of a day!

And I look forward to sharing more pictures with all of you too!

New Pictures of 2 of the Cutest kids...

I don't know why I always think we won't get some good pictures when we go for a session. It takes A TON of work and LOTS of sweating (me) and bribing to get what we get, but they always seem to turn out pretty good!

Check out today's photos...

Diabetes Blog Week - Day 6 Diabetes Snapshots

Here is our life with Diabetes since just before The Superhero was diagnosed until now...

Just days before he was diagnosed. You can see how skinny he is by looking at his neck and face.

Diagnosis pictures...(and yep, that is an IV in his neck, and both arms )

The Superhero still likes to be a normal kid, making cookies with his Pompa

And of course, that means tasting the dough

He LOVES to eat cupcakes

He can have ice cream and diet coke for breakfast if he wants to (at Disneyland only!)

1 Year Diaversary Celebration. We took him to his FIRST movie, EVER. (to see Up) He enjoyed the diet coke and popcorn treat.

When things don't work out quite right, due to stomach bugs we end up in the hospital. We have been back 2x since dx almost 2 years ago.

We are SO lucky to have some of the best technology available for The Superhero.

Lots of supplies (a little messy at the time of this picture, it has since been cleaned out)

And some of the BEST friends we could EVER ask for!

Here is The Superhero with part of our Secret Santa gift.
